Our unique Wal-Pil-O® & Well-Pil-O® neck pillows were developed by Lionel Walpin, MD, a noted physician specializing in neck & back care. Dr. Walpin was a pioneer in integrative medicine, a Clinical Director of Physical Medicine, Cedars-Sinai, Los Angeles, and a decorated officer in the US Army Medical Corps in Tokyo, Japan.
Why Is the Wal-Pil-O® Unique?
-Designed with expert knowledge of anatomy and function, our neck pillows gently align your head and neck in a more normal relationship. Each pillow offers 4-in-1 ways to get a good night's sleep with a choice of a narrow or a wide firm border and a soft or medium center. Posture is as important while you sleep as when you are awake.
-Always Made in the USA.
-Recommended for 40 years by physician leaders and healthcare professionals.
-Praised in medical journals and textbooks, and popular media, including the TODAY Show, Vogue and TImeLife.
-Proudly listed by CertiPUR.US®.
-Packaging printed in USA with vegetable ink and is BPA free.
Why Don't We Have An All Memory Foam Pillow?
Pillows made entirely from memory foam simply accommodate to your body because they adapt to the weight and shape of your head. Your head carries your neck with it, thereby positioning the head and neck where they “have to be” rather than where they ought to be for healthy alignment as seen with the Wal-Pil-O®.
And there is more...
You can feel good about purchasing a Wal-Pil-O®. Our simple packaging is Made in the USA and is recyclable - BPA free and printed with vegetable ink. Rest easy!

"Patients with dysfunction of the shoulder or chest, or even of the lower back usually have a cervical spine issue when examined carefully. By using the Well-Pil-O ®, cervical dysfunctional areas can be passively addressed and healing will be enhanced by the pillow's gentle re-alignment of the head and neck."

Dr. Art Ulene and Tom Brokaw discuss the benefits of the Wal-Pil-O® Neck Pillow.
"A therapeutic pillow that can provide a restful embrace for head, neck, and shoulders has been designed to relieve pains from tense muscles, joint-related headaches, and other pains in neck, shoulder, and face. Lionel Walpin, MD, clinical director of physical medicine at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, Los Angeles developed the pillow to provide correct and comfortable sleeping posture in any of four positions, cradling the head while giving traction-like support to the neck."
"One specially designed pillow, developed by Lionel Walpin, MD of Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, provides four different combinations of head and neck support. The central part of the pillow, where the head rests is soft on one side and medium-firm on the other; on each side, the upper border offers a narrow firm support for the neck, while the opposite border provides a wide, firm neck support."
"Some muscle-tension headache sufferers have been helped by sleeping on a cylindrical cervical pillow.....The one we've heard the best reports on is called the Wal-Pil-O."
"The Wal-Pil-O received rave reviews from 8 of 10 testers. "Excellent. This pillow allowed freedom of movement, while still providing support." Pg 55
"The Wal-Pil-O® is proper for almost all cervical spine problems. Nocturnal chest pain, stiff neck in the morning, and pain in the cervical spine and shoulder girdle are often relieved through the use of the Wal-Pil-O®. I recommend it highly." Pg.273
Lionel Walpin, MD established Roloke Company LLC, a manufacturer and distributor of innovative medical/ergonomic products, in 1977. Dr. Walpin developed the Wal-Pil-O® while successfully caring for patients with neck and back issues using a non-drug/non-surgical approach to treatment. After graduating from the Chicago Medical School in1961, he completed his medical training at Montefiore Medical Center in New York. During his training, he proudly served in the US military as a Captain in Japan during the Vietnam War caring for wounded combat soldiers. He was awarded the National Defense Service Medal. Dr. Walpin was a Clinical Director of the Department of Physical Medicine at Cedars Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, and the Director of the Walpin Physical Medicine Institute in Los Angeles.
Dr. Walpin, a specialist in physical medicine focusing on neck and back care and posture, developed a national reputation for the successful treatment of patients with pain and disability. He developed an integrative medicine philosophy decades before the term was understood by incorporating principles of osteopathy, chiropractic, Feldenkreis Method, sclerotherapy, Alexander Technique, myofascial release and Pilates with his broad medical science training. After President Nixon went to China in the early 1970s, Dr. Walpin studied acupuncture with the President of the British Acupuncture Association and the President, World Union of Scientific Acupuncture Societies & Consultant to the US Surgeon General, becoming one of the earliest US physicians to use acupuncture. In keeping with his preventive approach, he incorporated a gym in his office to demonstrate correct posture and body alignment while exercising.
Dr. Walpin was a Diplomate of the American Boards of Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation, Internal Medicine, and Electrodiagnostic Medicine, and a founding Fellow of the American College of Rheumatology. He authored numerous academic articles and obtained several patents. The Chicago Medical School selected Dr. Walpin as a Distinguished Alumnus for scientific contributions in his field.
